This is the leaner and meaner BMW 4 Series. The all-new two-door coupe is based on the same platform as the 3 Series and is available with petrol, diesel or mild hybrid engines. Buyers get the choice of four- and six-cylinder engines fed via the rear-wheels, with petrol or diesel power. All models get BMW's eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox as standard, while four-wheel drive (branded by BMW as xDrive) is available as an optional extra on most models.

 

The 320i and 330i use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and develop a respective 184 and 258PS. Advertised fuel economy varies from 46.3 - 53.3mpg. The  M440i uses a turbocharged six-cylinder engine to develop 374PS. It also gets xDrive as standard and BMW's new 48v mild hybrid system to cover 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds while returning an official 39.8 - 41.5mpg.

Mild hybrid tech is fitted as standard to all of the diesel models. This means the 2.0-litre four-cylinder 420d will develop 190PS and return up to 72.4mpg, based on the WLTP figures. A six-cylinder diesel (330d) will be added to the range in March 2021 and offer 286PS, while a high performance 440d is also in the works with 340PS.
